Who are we?The EOS Documentation Project was formed in response to the growing number of requests for operating instructions for old EOS cameras, flashes, and lenses. A core group of 6 members from the EOS Mailing List founded the EDP on 2000 Apr 29. Since then, we quickly welcomed many more members from all over the world. We are a diverse group of photographers, amateurs and professionals, advanced and beginner from all over the world. Our common bond is that we own and enjoy using photographic equipment in the Canon EOS system. The project is the collaborative effort of volunteers connected by the internet. The group uses internet collaboration tools provided by Yahoo! Groups. We are not supported by, nor are we affiliated with, the Canon company other than as users of Canon EOS equipment. AimMany photographers have fully functioning EOS equipment but do not have operating manuals. In some cases, the classic camera equipment has been discontinued from production for decades, and original documentation is no longer available. The EDP is focussing efforts in two parallel directions. One part of this project is to document and freely share our collective experience in using our equipment to the limit in the fulfilment of our photographics ambitions. Many of us have devised ways to allow us to push our photographic technique to the limits of the technology we have available. The second part of our project is to attempt to create a freely accessible electronic museum of EOS documentation that can help substitute where the original manuals are not available. The Teachers at Hunter Regional School of Photography (NSW - Australia) put us onto this website and I have to say it is brilliant to have a fall back in case my manual gets too dog-eared to read. Thanks for the hard work you have put into maintaining this comprehensive website! Sarah 2006Mar18 22:40:47 -0800 I was here also. Thx for the stuff. Have a nice pic... I'd pay a few bucks for that! Brendan Simons 2010Mar08 17:28:43 -1000 Is this group Still a functioning group. I need some help modding a flash. I want to create a device that sits on the hot shoe that has a switch that will trick a EOS digital camera in to HSS mode (I have a 7D and can put it into HSS with a 220EX) I also have a 430EXII and have added a Sync port to the base and can use a Pocket wizard to trigger it) My Hope was to mount the 430 exII on the 7D go into HSS mode. Plugin in a pocket wizard to the sync port I installed and use the hotshoe trigger signal to trigger studio packs.Al while in HSS mode. ( My Olympus E-3 allowed me to do it with ease, see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HK7VC80NSvw&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL ) Well the 430 exII puts some weird signal on the trigger pin and causes the signal to the pocket wizard to be interrupted. This is how I installed the sync port to the 430 exII http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSOXiLzs2co&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL Since the 430 exII has some funky signals messing things up. I was wondering if using an old 220EX would help me achieve my goal. I want to learn how to trick a Canon DLSR (my 7D) into HSS mode and be able to trigger a studio pack kust like I did with my E-3. Can any of you guys help me understand. I dont want to spend $6-700 for PW Flex TT5's and such. There has to be an easy way to figure this out. I was reading thru this website and found Canon E-TTL Protocol there is some sort of code to put a camera in to HSS Info and Codes here. http://kzar.net/wiki/Photo/CanonE-TTLProtocol . I have asked more than a few people to help me but they either dont know or the info they do know they do not want to share in any form. The one person I did speak to that says he knows isn't going to help me at all because he says he is or was working with Pocketwizard to figure out this very issue. He is well known and Mods all sorts of flashes and makes photographic accessory. First Initial M. last name rhymes with ass but is a fish not a donkey! I hope someone here can help me I desperate want to tackle this problem. I have ID's the colors of the wires in the 220EX and started a thread on POTN http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1118777 and the only response led me here via the ETTL- Protocol website. I am glad to of found this place. I look forward to hearing from someone here. There is a ton of great info here, not sure how much of it is going to help me finish my project. Thanks for reading this long post, I wouldn't waste my time if I didn't really need some help Tom Shue 2011Nov25 19:37:07 -1000 | ||||||||||
